For nearly 15 years the Brit has been wandering around with her humble smile and her cheeky talent, honing her art through albums produced in turn by John Parish or Aaron Dressner of The National (with whom she tours and collaborates), delivering pearls of wisdom and tenderness in vibrant compositions that reveal influences ranging from Sandy Denny to Beth Orton or Robert Wyatt, via Sufjan Stevens. Her latest album Off Off On (2020) confirms, if proof were needed, that Stables is one of the most original and gifted artists of her generation.
