Antigel - LUCAS SANTTANA

LUCAS SANTTANA

Santtana sings his revolt in a silky voice to bossa nova rhythms, and whispers to make himself heard in a howling world…

A reminder of the energy and creativity of Brazil’s music scene, Lucas Santtana draws his inspiration from the country’s musical ocean, with bossa nova and Tropicália at the forefront, adding an avant-garde and poly-cultural touch: samba intermingled with electronics, instrumentals tinged with reggae dub, amusing songs in English… Joyful and catchy sounds blow a refreshing breeze in the shadow of giants such as João Gilberto, Tom Zé or Gilberto Gil. But behind his sweet melodies, the native of Salvador de Bahia hides a lyrical slap in the face to authoritarians. Calling for unity and resistance, condemning political corruption and with fist raised against fascism, the irresistible sweetness of his haunting ballads sings about nature’s revenge and whispers hopes of a more tender world beyond separatism. A bittersweet journey, through the sand and the oil slicks…
