The students of La Manufacture, University of Performing Arts, had just begun working with Mathilde Monnier on their graduation creation when the health crisis brought everything to a halt. A whole class made invisible because of the virus… ADC and Antigel festival sought to resume and showcase this work with students who have since become young professional dancers. The creation focuses on air and time, on this vital, political and poetic invisible-ness which holds our inner as well as our outer life. A Dance Climax, or a means to understand how to live in the air, as earthlings.

MATHILDE MONNIER
Mathilde Monnier occupe une place de référence dans le paysage de la danse contemporaine française et internationale. De pièce en pièce, elle déjoue les attentes en présentant un travail en constant renouvellement.
Sa nomination à la tête du Centre chorégraphique de Montpellier Languedoc-Roussillon en 1994 marque le début d’une série de collaborations avec des personnalités venant de divers champs artistiques (Jean-Luc Nancy, Katerine, Christine Angot, La Ribot, Heiner Goebbels...).
Elle crée plus de 40 pièces chorégraphiques présentées sur les grandes scènes internationales du festival d’Avignon au Théâtre de la Ville de Paris en passant par New York, Vienne, Berlin, Londres et reçoit plusieurs prix pour son travail (prix du Ministère de la culture, Grand Prix SACD).
En 2014, elle est nommée à la direction générale du Centre national de la danse à Pantin, jusqu’en juin 2019.
En 2020, elle crée la pièce "A Dance Climax" pour la première partie du spectacle de sortie de la promotion D du Bachelor en Contemporary Dance.

Walk across the playground, where children dance to an entirely different tune, up a few steps to the cosy bar for a swift drink and enter the ADC auditorium—Geneva’s hub of contemporary dance since 2004. The story began in 1986 when the Association, co-founded by choreographer Noemi Lapsezon, was still based at Salle Patiño, where it remained until 1997. After a few years with no fixed abode, ADC provisionally took up quarters in Eaux-Vives’ community centre. The works for a new dance pavilion on Place Sturm are now finished and the elegant building, both functional and poetic, has already hosted its first shows. Dance, dance and dance again!
