François Gremaud and Victor Lenoble imagine a play without actors, entirely built on their dialogue.
They share a serious taste for absurd and offbeat humour. Following their fruitful first collaboration, Partition(s), featured in the 2018 Programme Commun, they expressed a desire to continue their exhilarating and passionate dialogue on creative processes by writing a play without actors. Following the example of Georges Perec, who considered formal constraints a powerful stimulant for imagination and who, with La Disparition, wrote a novel that does not once include the letter “e” (the most common letter in the French language), they have chosen to make a “lipocritical” play (from the Greek leipô, “ to leave behind, to forsake” and hupokritês, “actor”), a play without the presence of its major protagonist: the actor. Nevertheless, their ambition is no less than to make a show that is “funny, simple, moving, poetic, philosophical… and perfectly appropriate”!

Just a proton’s throw from CERN and in the heart of the Pays de Gex, Saint-Genis-Pouilly vibrates to the rhythm of a cosmopolitan population, widely open to the world. A quarter of the town’s residents are of foreign origin, with close to one hundred nationalities represented. In other words, life is colourful and the activities hectic! Since 2007 Théâtre du Bordeau has been contributing its cultural stone to this quivering Tower of Babel. Its high-quality programme is aimed at all audiences, offering comedy and dance, as well as theatre, circus, music and shows for young audiences.
